About the Fair

Aqua Art Miami contemporary art fair takes place each December during Art Basel week in Miami Beach at the Aqua Hotel, 1530 Collins Ave. The 2012 show dates are December 6 - 9, with a VIP Opening Preview event on Wednesday evening, December 5.

The fair began in 2005 as an experimental project to bring west coast galleries and artists to Miami during Art Basel week, and quickly established it's reputation as one of the best hotel art fairs in the US.

Based in Seattle, the fair has a distinctly west coast character set off by the balmy indoor/outdoor atmosphere of the Aqua Hotel. Fair organizers continue to seek out vibrant and noteworthy programs in their region as well as the greater USA and abroad, with a particular interest in supporting young dealers and galleries with strong emerging and early mid-career artists.

The classic South Beach boutique hotel has breezy, spacious rooms surrounding an intimate courtyard. The hot tub has become a favorite gathering spot to soak tired feet, relax and socialize during Art Basel week. And Aqua is located within walking distance of Art Basel, just south of the bustling Lincoln Road restaurant and shopping area. Many hotel beach bars and cocktail events are close by and the glorious beach itself is just a block away.
